In no particular order, 5 best out of 57 total: I'm still sitting on Oathbringer because we're going to start the audiobook on the long road trip we're taking for Christmas, but if it's half as good as Words of Radiance it will make the list too. Only thing is I would have liked this one more if it were just straight historical fiction the steampunk elements seemed almost kind of jarring. Lesbian prostitutes in 19th century Seattle-ish? HELLS YES. Training school stories are my jam, and I loved all the characters in this enough that I was willing to overlook the rather confusing naming/title scheme. Delightful, beautiful, heartbreaking, I want to immediately buy all the sequels but I have to finish Bingo first. This is another series I'm eagerly awaiting reading the rest of.Ī Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan. I wasn't sure what I was expecting going into this book, but I loved every minute of it. I also read it while I was sleep deprived and recovering from the C-section after the birth of my son, so all the motherhood bits hit me right in the feels. I thought it was a really beautiful end to the series. Everything is better with 18th century gay boys. The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzie Lee. I'll always remember the simplicity of Pynchon's "It's your Mate" or the feverish melancholy of Ka, or the serenity of waves crashing onto the shore of City of Miracles. I've read some 70ish books and around 30ish thousand pages, and all five books that I've mentioned have reached my all time great list and that has never happened before.
